The Soul Exchange

The Soul Exchange was founded in 2013 by guitarist Hans von Bell, drummer Benny White and guitarist Thomas von Bell. In 2014, the trio was joined by vocalist Erik Olofsson and Tobias Chevalier (vocals, keyboards etc). 

The band enjoyed success with their eponymous debut album “The Soul Exchange”, produced by the seasoned rock producer and studio engineer Mats “Limpan” Lindfors, released on January 20^th, 2015.

In 2016 the band underwent some personnel changes, with Daniel John joining founding members Hans & Thomas von Bell as new vocalist, and also bringing in Benny White on drums and Patrik “Patte” Ekelöf on bass, that makes up the present line up of The Soul Exchange. 

With the new line up, the band has moved into a new direction, both musically and image wise, with a different modern sound and stage image. 

The Soul Exchange will release their 2^nd full length album, produced by the renowned Swedish producer Magnus “Tank” Ljungqvist, on the Mervilton Records label in the fall of 2016. The band promises this to be a much darker and modern sounding effort, than the debut. 

Stating that “this is a new era of The Soul Exchange” and that “the band has found its sound on the 2^nd album and this will be the formula going forward. Modern hard rock with a great portion of metal influences, and most importantly, the vocal arrangements and melodies are having a major focus in The Soul Exchanges’ otherwise riff oriented music”.

The phrase “It is the sound of a new world being born, and the louder sound of an old world being destroyed” has never been more relevant than for the new album by The Soul Exchange!

“MADDNESS,” brings a hard-core attitude and aptitude in his latest single, “Never Giving Up.” The mix of rap, hip-hop and R&B is all part of his resilient mantra of “RAPtitude.”

(WASHINGTON, DC., U.S.A.) AUGUST 5th, 2016 – The best musicians have a high artistic aptitude and attitude. D.C.-based MADDNESS, also known as “L.A,” just happens to be one of those rare artists. He harnesses both of these traits, all while delivering hard-hitting messages through his “RAPtitude.” “Never Giving Up” is the first single to drop off of his latest CD, Method to Maddness. With his hard-core collision of rap, R&B, hip-hop, and soul, it’s obvious with his first single that MADDNESS is “Never Giving Up.”

Most materialistic hip-hop artists follow trends. However, MADDNESS is different. He chose long ago to take a stand for everyday individuals against the negative forces that surround them. This theme is something he learned in his hard-knock upbringing. He explains, “In the times we live today people are led astray by the corrupt messages displayed in songs, television, and the general media.

MADDNESS has a powerful panacea for a lot of what is going on in today’s society. “Never Giving Up” is part of his musical medicine. It contains an uplifting anthem with a “sternt-up” style and synergistic theme of real-life resiliency. Within “Never Giving Up,” MADDNESS delivers music from the heart, but also with guts. The tune’s blasts bass and addictive musical phrasing all over the top tightly crafted new age beats. In sum, “Never Giving Up,” is authentic and groundbreaking hip-hop, with a new school twist.

L.A. gives insight, “You gotta’ get up when you’re knocked down.” He makes his focus his RAPtitude to motivate and defeat divisiveness. “We all have a tendency to get sidetracked in our life,” he explains. It’s one of the keys to the lyrics in this song, as L.A. raps, “I keep my head up, my eyes open, the wicked scoping, hoping don’t sleep.” So follow the method to theMADDNESS; it’s all about having aptitude and attitude. It’s called RAPtitude, and a commitment to “Never Giving Up.”

Downie

Downie is a seasoned vocalist and songwriter with a wide range, able to write in and sing all genres of music with emotional depth and creativity.

Downie comes from a musical family. Her grandparents met while her grandmother was playing piano in a honky tonk bar band. Her mother played many instruments and she grew up singing in school choirs with her older sister and her other siblings play instruments as well.

Downie's first instrument is voice and she is a classically trained soprano. She plays piano and guitar and recently has been playing on some of her own track instrumentals. Along with her love of performing, songwriting, arranging and recording, Downie loves teaching music. She has been a music teacher in K-12 in the States and abroad, a choir director and private voice coach.

Her music has been played in Grand Rapids, Lansing, Seattle, San Diego, Las Vegas, Jackson. New Orleans, Pensacola, Boston, Baltimore, Ft. Collins, Memphis, Houston, Scranton, Phoenix, Huntsville, Milwaukee, Wichita KA, St. Louis, and Los Angeles.
