WEST SACRAMENTO, CA [IFS] -- The killing of Renee Nicole Good sparked outrage and grief across the region—but she was not the only life lost. In the rush of headlines and official statements, another name has largely been left out of the conversation: Keith Porter Jr.

Porter was killed on New Year’s Eve, in front of his own home, while celebrating the arrival of 2026. Neighbors say the moment should have been one of joy and renewal. Instead, it became another scene of irreversible loss. His death has received little sustained attention, even as questions mount about the conduct of the same federal unit linked to the killing of Good.

Community advocates point to a troubling pattern. In addition to the deaths of Good and Porter, two people were reportedly fired upon in Portland during separate encounters involving the same group, referred to by critics as the “Frozen Rejects.” While investigations remain ongoing, the accumulation of incidents has intensified public anger and distrust.

What’s changed in recent days is the political tone. Elected officials who once urged patience and restraint are now signaling that they are done being polite. Calls for hearings, transparency, and independent oversight are growing louder, reflecting pressure from constituents who say accountability has been delayed for far too long.

For many residents, this moment isn’t just about one case or one city. It’s about whose stories get amplified, whose names are remembered, and whether community safety includes everyone—or only some.

As the conversation continues, one message is clear from the ground up: Keith Porter Jr.’s name belongs in this story too.
